Before we dive into my portfolio, I’d like to introduce myself. My name is McKenna Hayden. I’m a 23 year old who was born and raised in Corona, California. I completed my undergraduate at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, where I received a Bachelors of Science in Communication Studies in 2018.
For the last four years, I’ve spent my time learning not only how to communicate with others, but what it means to be a successful communicator. This has lead me one step closer to my dream of becoming a 3rd grade teacher. While in school I was a member of Sigma Kappa, where I served on various committees as well as the holding the position of Vice President of Communications. I was the Publicity Chair of a Special Events club in which we hosted an event for over 300 students.
As an adult, I want to make a difference in the world, and I believe the best way to do that is to inspire and ensure that young people have the best education possible. However, my love for teaching has always been present. As a child, I would play school with other children in my neighborhood, and while most other kids wanted to play student, I always wanted to play teacher. I want nothing more than to set kids up for success and ensure they have all the tools, resources, and knowledge to go out into the world and make a difference.
After completing my Masters in Education and receiving my credentials, I hope to use the knowledge I’ve gained throughout school to aid me in changing the lives of students and helping them on their journey.
